I love the sensation of being enveloped in forest and woodland. It is so calming; the sense of stillness yet knowing the forest is fully alive.
Inspired by more woodland walks than I can remember, the Forest Light design combines vibrant green and gold paints to create an impression of verdant forests and the magical effects of light on the foliage.
A really popular design, I love the conversations with people at markets; hearing how much they love the brightness of the handpainted forest jewellery.
Textures and tones in this Statement Pendant and Leaf Earrings
The story of the collection is centred on the Spring season ~
when everything is fresh and vibrant, speaking hope and vitality; a multi sensory experience of melodic birdsong, leaves rustling in the wind and the sight and scent of fresh greenery.
You don’t always have to go far to experience greenery. This is my local nature walk (an old railway path) where I walk nearly every day - the path meanders and the trees form a canopy.
This is where I’ve taken many photos of the Forest Light Collection:
Vibrant Forest Stud Earrings - hand painted in Glasgow
This sense of a canopy is one of my favourite things about woodland - the feeling of being enveloped, hugged by greenery - an immersive experience of deep calm and awe.

These images also show the hidden depths within forests and one aspect of the design I love is the sense of colours sitting behind each other - especially in the lower part of the pendant.
Forest Light was launched early 2024 and was the first example of me using a gold band across the design to create definition. (Since then this design aspect has also been seen in the limited edition ranges of the red and gold Eastern Sunrise and the sunset inspired Arran Flow)
Another feature of my painting techniques emerging at this time was creating texture and depth by layering up paints.
The depth can be seen in this 32mm Statement Pendant below the gold band - you can see folds as well as layers
So how are these vibrant pieces painted layer by layer?
Watch the moving image carousel below to see it all coming together. Did you know that six different paints are used in this design? Three green and three gold!
